South Bend school board members have voted to require students, staff and visitors mask up for the upcoming school year, regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status.

The vote took place during the board’s meeting on Monday, Aug. 2.

The president of the school board says the decision comes based off of the CDC’s recommendation for mask-wearing in schools.

Many parents at the meeting spoke out against the decision.

Remember folks they only have the power to strap a face diaper on our kids for 10 hours a day because we allow them that power. At any time we can rescind that power.
