Justin Lee Miller pleads not guilty in connection to Mercedes Lain’s death

Justin Lee Miller appeared in court on Tuesday morning for his initial hearing following the death of 11-month-old Mercedes Lain.

Miller pleaded not guilty to Neglect of a Dependent Resulting in Death during a court hearing via video on Tuesday, Aug. 24.

Lain’s body was found in a wooded area in Starke County late last week. Miller led police to the body.

Lain’s autopsy has ruled her cause of death to be a homicide due to blunt force trauma.

Miller was the last person to see Lain before she was reported missing. He’s currently in the Marshall County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
