Fire crews from multiple agencies in Indiana and Michigan were called to a large fire at a scrap metal yard east of New Carlisle.
Crews were called just after 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 24, to the 54000 block of Smilax Road.
Smoke billowed high into the sky and could be seen for miles.
Police on scene told 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57 that the smoke was carcinogenic.
The fire was extinguished early Wednesday morning.
