A mask mandate is back in effect at Penn Harris Madison schools after school board members voted 5 – 2 to require them during their meeting on Monday, Aug. 23.

The school year got underway on Wednesday of last week and the board’s president said there have been 19 students and staff who have tested positive for COVID-19 with 125 close contacts.

With that, and with St. Joseph County moving from blue to yellow on the state’s COVID color-coded map, the board’s president said they had to consider masks, again, to keep schools open.

The move may be temporary, depending on the rate of cases.

PHM Schools weren’t the only district that moved to require masks on Monday.

A man was escorted out of the St. Joseph Public Schools Board meeting on Monday evening after board members voted unanimously to require masks inside schools.

The man was upset about the move to mandate masks, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

The vote was unanimous in favor of masks for students and staff when the district’s school year begins. Classes there resume on Sep. 7.

When are these idiot school board members going to actually FOLLOW THE SCIENCE! Masks don’t work unless they are N95 or better. It’s really simple, there is no excuse for their ignorance.
