Asst. Chief Snyder retires from Elkhart Police Department after 24 years

After 24 years with the Elkhart Police Department, Assistant Chief Chris Snyder has retired.

Hired in September 1997, Snyder served in multiple roles including in the K9 until, as a detective in the County Homicide Unit and as the Department Public Information Officer.

He was appointed Assistant Chief in January of last year.

With Snyder’s departure, Captain Dan Milanese has been promoted Assistant Chief.

Formerly head of the Special Service Division, Asst. Chief Milanese has served with Elkhart Police for 13 years.

Milanese also served in the Bristol Police Department for 7 years before that.

He has worked in Street Crimes and as an investigator and evidence technician before serving as the Acting Sergeant Special Services Division in 2016. Then as Acting Lieutenant-Services in 2017.

Milanese has also been a Field Training officers.

He was promoted to rank of Captain in July 2020.
