The South Bend Police officer accused of an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old girl is out on bond.

Timothy Barber was released from custody, late Wednesday afternoon hours after his arraignment. Barber was formally charged with two counts of child seduction, two counts of misconduct and a charge of public indecency.

According to court documents, Barber is accused of using his position as a police officer to pressure a 16-year-old girl to have sex with him.

The accusation was waged after the teen’s parents saw suspicious messages on her cell phone.

A no-contact order is in place to keep Barber away from the girl. He’s due back in court early next month.
