Two people are accused of impersonating police and beating a man unconscious in South Bend.
That’s according to court documents that say officers were called, early last Sunday morning, to the 35-hundred block of Putnam Place on the report of a break-in and assault.
On arrival, police found the victim lying on the ground, unconscious, having suffered numerous abrasions and marks on his head.
They performed CPR and the man was taken to the hospital. He’s expected to survive, despite a brain injury.
The victim and others in the home say they were awoken by voices yelling “police” at the door.
But they weren’t cops. They were relatives and began beating the victim. Both are charged with battery, burglary and impersonating an officer.

Those two showing up at my door claiming to be ‘police’ would get a 911 call, no opened door and a loaded gun waiting for them.
