16 Hoosiers have died from the flu during the 2021-2022 flu season

The number of Hoosiers who have died from the flu in the 2021-22 flu season has reached 16.

Three additional deaths were reported in the latest data from the Indiana Department of Health for the week ending on January 22.

Of the 16 who have died, 10 of those people were ages 65 and older, 5 were between the ages of 50-64, and one person was younger than 50.

Six long-term care facilities have experienced flu outbreaks this season.

Overall, the health department rates flu activity in Indiana as “low,” with none of the people tested in the week ending Jan. 22 having a positive result.

Amazingly, flu deaths have decreased since COVID started by roughly the same amount as the COVID deaths. I’m sure that doesn’t mean anything though.
