A second trial for the teenager accused of planning a “columbine-style” school shooting is underway in Fulton County.
John Schultz IV’s first trial, last summer, ended in a mistrial.
Opening statements from both prosecution and defense were heard on Monday, Feb. 7.
Schultz is charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit murder, intimidation and possession of a narcotics and methamphetamine.
His defense argues the case involves mental health and drugs. He added no weapons, drugs or plans were found with the suspects.
A second defendant in the case, Donald Robin Jr. has already been sentenced to 17 years in prison with 9 years suspended.
Robin testified for the prosecution, on Monday, saying he and Schultz planned the shooting because they were angry about being bullied.
He said he and Schultz wanted to do the shooting at Rochester High School, but were considering Caston because they thought it would take longer for police to get there.
