Indiana Harbor shutting down a second blast furnace

A blast furnace at Indiana Harbor is being shut down indefinitely.

Blast Furnace #4 has been idled by Cleveland-Cliffs, an Ohio-based steelmaker. It’s the second blast furnace in East Chicago to be taken offline in the last three years.

The company says no jobs will be lost, according to the Northwest Indiana Times, but a lower amount of steel production along the shoreline is expected to have long-term effects on employment opportunities in the Calumet Region.

The idle is due to operational improvements at the facility.

How much more Chinese steel can we expect to replace it? FJB doesn’t care about the little guy, the union guy, he takes his millions from China and that’s who he supports. Joe Biden and his son accepted $31 million in sweetheart graft.

Nice so Joe Biden and son did this one so who close the first one three years ago and who ever they are did they receive money /graft for there work. I work in a steel mill here in Canada and all the employees got about 40 thousand dollar profit sharing program last year our blast furnace is going to also be replaced by an electric arc furnace as well but I am sorry Joe and son had nothing to do with it.
