It didn’t take LaPorte City Police very long to locate and detain a county jail inmate who escaped from a top floor window.
It happened late Tuesday night, May 10. Deputies searched outside the jail building and found several pieces of bedsheets tied together in the form of a rope coming down from a top floor window.
Around that same time, LaPorte City Police were called about a man, wandering around naked, in the 600 block of Lincolnway.
That’s where they found the escaped inmate, Desmond Robinson, 43.
He’s been locked up since early April for a felony burglary that happened back in 2017.
Robinson was found suffering injuries consistent with a fall.
Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division are performing an investigation into the escape.
