The town of Pierceton has filed a lawsuit against a former police officer for breach of contract.

A town attorney says that the former officer, Ryan Piper, entered into an officer training reimbursement agreement in July.

The agreement said that if Piper ended his employment with the town within 48 months of taking office, he would have to pay the town $20,000.

News Now Warsaw reports that Piper ended his position in 2021 and that he breached his agreement when he refused to pay the town.

Piper took his oath of office on August 12, 2019 and ended his employment on December 4, 2021.

Pierceton is now asking for the full amount, with interest, and the attorney and other fees to be paid for by Piper.
