Larry Jo Taylor Jr. has been convicted for the murder of Amanda Blackburn, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office announced Thursday.
Blackburn was killed in 2015. Taylor, Jalen Watson, and Diano Gordon were burglarizing homes. When they hit Blackburn’s home, Taylor shot and killed her.
Two mistrials preceded this conviction. Prosecutor Ryan Mears said Thursday, “We are pleased with today’s verdict and that we are finally able to bring justice for Amanda and her family. It has taken a tremendous amount of patience and grace to get to this moment.”
Watson and Gordon have both pled guilty to Burglary and Robbery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury. Watson has been sentenced to 29 years. Gordon has not been sentenced as of yet.
Taylor was also convicted of numerous other crimes, including Burglary, Criminal Confinement, and Auto Theft. His sentencing hearing is set for October 14th at 1 p.m.
