Michigan feeling the impact of national drug shortages

Supply chain issues have brought about a shortage of important drugs in Michigan.

The Great Lakes State is experiencing a shortage of Adderall, penicillin, cancer drugs and more. Bridge Michigan reports that the FDA has listed 136 drugs in short supply across the country, resulting in some refills being limited due to short supplies.

In Michigan, supply chain issues are escalating at a fast pace. At the beginning of May the state’s Department of Health asked public health departments to prioritize penicillin for pregnant women, and take other steps to protect the current supply of critical drugs.
