It involves residents receiving a message made to look like a citation involving a traffic violation recorded by a traffic camera.
Police remind residents that they do not use traffic cameras for enforcement.

What? There are NO jurisdictions in the state using traffic cameras? IMHO, they SHOULD be used. Today’s drivers are violating traffic laws at an alarming rate.

When California implemented traffic cameras for enforcement at intersections the number of rear end collisions increased dramatically. People would slam on their brakes when the light turned yellow.

Traffic cameras are not installed for safety. They are installed to generate revenue.

Cameras turn you from a citizen to be protected into a money source. Guess how that turns out?

The camera operator business gets the most share of “revenue”

We do not need the unblinking eye of government staring at all we do…hello 1984.

It’s good that we don’t use them but some folks do, and it’s plausible enough as a government action that the scam appears as a feasible to people.

Yeah well the cops aren’t doing their jobs and enforcing traffic laws either TIM IMHO anything would be better then the madness we have now in the roads. If I was a betting man Tim I bet you enjoy a little gasoline fueled adrenaline rush.

I thought traffic cams were just made legal for enforcement in construction zones?!? I swear Holcomb just signed it, probability goes in effect July 1.

Courts i many states have rules cameras for traffic violations is unconstitutional. Cameras are leased. The company that owns the physical cameras gets the lion’s share of the fines. It is actually a private company issuing the citations. You have a right to challenge your accuser in court. That is in the Constitution.

Why does anybody want more restrictions on our movement. Think! I see so many officers and deputies violating rights. They should be monitoring the intersections. So many of them sitting in cars doing less than nothing. I had a Texas Trooper come across a divided highway chasing me down as if I robbed a bank. My right headlight was burnt out. He was driving a Camaro. Stop giving your rights away.

So I think our citys should use cameras to catch crime. But traffic is moving so close together and how can the camera no what car is the one committing the offense? So I say no use on traffic cams

I’m very careful when I have to go into the extreme Woke blue city of Chicago. They have red light cameras and speed detecting cameras. Don’t even be in the intersection when the light is yellow. The tickets are very expensive.

Indeed!

It’s not worth it to go to Chicago at all. The cameras are just one more red flag.

They did sign the law for cameras where road work is being done but 😞 don’t think it’s in effect yet. I don’t want cameras for normal areas but cops do need to issue more tickets. Unless people are going close to a hundred they don’t even try to pull them over.

There are some cameras on the side of the road now that are used for biometrics. They’re not all necessarily traffic cameras. I’m a truck driver and I know of at least one that takes your picture every time you drive by it which is why I hide my face when I drive by it. And I flip it off at the same time.

Yes the bill was number 1015 signed by Governor Holcomb and it is a pilot program to test the accuracy of cameras in approximately for construction sites throughout Indiana only four it’s only a pilot program

That’s completely false that Indiana doesn’t use traffic cams for use of a citation.
The state of Indiana does use traffic cams for the citation enforcement on Indian state tollroads. Trust me, I know.
