It’s eight years in prison for a man who pleaded guilty to meth possession.

44-year-old Rickey Black was arrested on March 29 of last year after an ICE unit raided his home in Elkhart.

Police say they had noted Black, who had previously run from police in January, standing in the yard when he got into a vehicle and left, though they knew his license was suspended.

A traffic stop was conducted, but Black continued driving and a pursuit took place, traveling through yards and down one way streets the wrong way before the vehicle wrecked and went into a ditch at Middleton Run Road. Black continued to flee on foot but was detained.

His vehicle contained over 12 grams of meth and a bag of pills, two cards with Black’s name on them, a digital scale and a loaded handgun.

He was sentenced to 8 years after pleading guilty to possession of methamphetamine.
