One of the three men charged with aiding in the kidnap plot against Governor Gretchen Whitmer testified in his own defense on Thursday.

Eric Molitor and twin brothers William and Michael Null are charged with providing material support for terrorist acts.

Molitor said the governor’s name didn’t even come up when he was encouraged by Adam Fox, the leader of the group accused in the plot, to check out what he called a “high-profile vacation house” in 2020. Molitor said he became anxious when he learned the vacation home in Northern Michigan belonged to the governor.

Only one other defendant has taken the witness stand in four other trials. There were 14 arrests just a month before the 2020 election in connection with the plot. Nine have been convicted, two have been acquitted.
