The Historic Preservation Commission of South Bend and St. Joseph County will present the Southhold Preservation Awards this year in November, recognizing outstanding preservation and restoration in five different categories.
The Southhold Awards are a tribute to the former Southhold Restorations, Inc., a local preservation-focused organization existing from 1973-1997 that left a grant to the Historic Preservation Commission to continue these awards.
To be considered for Southhold Awards, buildings must be at least 50 years old and located in St. Joseph County, Indiana. Additionally, the current owner of the building must be the person responsible for the work, which must have been completed within the last three years. Properties do not need to be registered as landmarks to be eligible.
Between now and October 20, 2023, the Commission seeks nominations to recognize persons or businesses who have made notable achievements in the categories of historic preservation, historic restoration or adaptive re-use of historic buildings or sites within St. Joseph County.
Nominations can be submitted in one of two ways:
Online, by filling out and submitting a form nomination at the following engagement website: www.together.southbendin.gov/southhold-preservation-awards-2023
In person, by filling out a paper ballot available at the Historic Preservation office in the Department of Community Investment on the 14th Floor of the County-City Building:
