Michigan Works of Berrien, Cass and Van Buren counties have received funds to help jail inmates reenter society.

They have received a $750,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice that will help the county jails to make sure inmates who are about to be released have the things they need in order to get back on their feet.

WSJM says this is the second three-year grant Michigan Works has received for reentry services.

They say the grant will help them to create customized reentry plans for inmates and that they have a goal to work with 200 inmates in the three years of the grant.
