Elkhart felon found guilty of unlawful possession of firearm

An Elkhart man has been found guilty of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon following a two-day jury trial in U.S. District Court in South Bend.
Nathan Keosackdy, 24, was charged in connection with with aiding and abetting the straw purchase of a firearm for him, a convicted felon, by his girlfriend.
According to court documents Keosackdy insisted his girlfriend bought the gun for her own possession and that he was merely helping her decide what kind of firearm to purchase.
Keosackdy is scheduled for sentencing on March 14, 2024.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives with the assistance of the South Bend Police Department and the Mishawaka Police Department.
