A significant development has occurred in a South Bend cold case dating back to 2007.

Skeletal remains discovered on the city’s northwest side have now been identified, bringing closure to the long-standing mystery.

The confirmation through DNA revealed that the remains belonged to 39-year-old Tracy Martin, who had gone missing on August 10, 2007. However, the circumstances surrounding Martin’s death remain unclear, as police are still unsure about the cause.

The last communication from Tracy to her family occurred when she called them, requesting a pick-up at the intersection of Blaine Avenue and Lincolnway.

During the call, she conveyed being bothered by someone and appeared fearful.

When her family arrived just 15 minutes later, she was nowhere to be found.
