The Indiana Legislature has passed a law that rolls back wetland protections in the state, and Audubon Great Lakes thinks Governor Holcomb should veto it.

Brian Vigue, the Policy Director of Freshwater for Audubon Great Lakes, says lawmakers passed a bill on Tuesday that leaves vital wetlands “out to dry.” He notes that Indiana ranks fourth among states with the greatest loss of wetlands, and the new bill would further reduce the number of wetlands protected in the Hoosier State by changing the definition of the most ecologically important wetlands.

He urges Governor Holcomb to veto HB 1383, and “work to bring all stakeholders together to produce comprehensive wetland policy.”
