Michigan City leaders are looking at the launch of the next mixed-use development project downtown.

The project is planned for the site at 5th and Pine Streets, which is within walking distance of the new 11th Street Station.

RFPs are being sought to purchase and develop the city-owned eight acres with a focus on growing housing, retail and vibrant downtown experiences with a goal of adding a new grocery store.

A developer pre-proposal session will happen on May 14, and potential developers will be able to tour the site area and receive more RFP details.

The City is looking for highly qualified development teams as well as those with a grasp on creative growth. More information can be found on edcmc.com.
