Sample Street in South Bend closed while crews battle house fire

Sample Street had to be shut down as South Bend Fire crews fought a garage fire. It happened around 1 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, in the 1700 block of Smaple.

Heavy smoke and fire were seen from the roof of the structure.

Crews had to close the street to traffic due to a to hose being placed in the street while they doused the flames.

The fire was quickly brought under control.

No injuries were reported and so far, there’s no word about the cause.
