A two-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of SR 19 and CR 32 in Wakarusa early Monday morning, resulting in minor injuries and one driver being cited.
According to authorities, a 16-year-old Wakarusa resident, driving a 2012 Chevrolet Impala eastbound on CR 32, entered the intersection and was struck by a 2010 Nissan Rogue traveling southbound on SR 19. The driver of the Nissan, identified as Jonathan Royal, 35, of Bristol, was uninjured. However, the impact led to a full airbag deployment in the Rogue, and both vehicles sustained significant front-end damage.
The teenage driver complained of hip pain and was transported by EMS to Elkhart General Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, and no passengers were involved.
Officials reported no equipment malfunctions in either vehicle, and drugs or alcohol were not suspected as factors. The young driver was cited at the scene for failure to yield the right of way. Both vehicles required towing due to the extent of the damage.
