A senior living center in St. Joseph has applied for a liquor license.

The Whitcomb Center is applying for a Class C liquor license. On Monday, the St. Joseph City Board voted to allow alcohol sales on the property. The license will allow the sale of beer, wine, and spirits at the senior center.

Administrators at the center say they are looking to offer more amenities to those who are retiring and considering a senior living center, and to offer more options to the residents they have that don’t tend to leave the premises very often.

The Michigan State Liquor Control Commission will have to approve the application.
