The South Bend Police Department tapes case will go to trial in June.
Judge Jamie Woods denied the South Bend Common Council’s motion to resolve the case without a trial, citing disputes over the tapes’ legality.
The judge also ruled on requests to strike evidence.
The case centers on wiretapped 2011 phone conversations with racist remarks from former police leaders.
A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for May 16.
