A woman who believed her son was being bullied is accused of hitting another student on a Warren Township School bus earlier this month.

On Tuesday, 36-year-old Latea Hentz was charged with criminal confinement, battery, intimidation, and criminal trespass.

On the morning of March 6, a Warren Township bus stopped near E. 35th Street and N. Richardt Avenue to pick up Hentz’s son. Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears says Hentz boarded the bus with her son and daughter to confront another student.

After that, a physical altercation occurred between a student and Hentz’s son and daughter. During the altercation, Mears says the video shows Hentz struck the child multiple times.

“Parents have the responsibility to protect our children, not harm them. We must ensure a safe and respectful environment for our students,” said Mears.

Mears says whatever problem Hentz thought she was resolving by resorting to violence, she didn’t solve.

“When you have these sorts of disputes and disagreements, it’s important that the adults set a positive example and that the adults act like adults,” said Mears.
