One of two people found dead on Birdsell Street in South Bend identified

UPDATE: One of the two individuals found deceased Friday on South Bend’s northwest side has been identified.

On Friday, March 21, around 7 p.m., South Bend Police responded to the 200 block of Birdsell Street on the report of a possible deceased individual at this location.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult female and an adult male – both were unresponsive. They were ultimately pronounced deceased.

The female has been identified as 45-year-old Chisa Taylor (Johnson). Her family has been notified. The

South Bend Police Department’s Detective Bureau is still attempting to make contact with the male’s family, therefore his name will not be released until his next-of-kin is notified.

Their autopsies are scheduled for tomorrow in Kalamazoo.

At this time, there are no obvious indicators of foul play and there is no threat to public safety.

ORIGINAL STORY: A death investigation is underway after two individuals were found deceased on South Bend’s northwest side.

It was around 7 p.m. on Friday, March 21, when South Bend Police were called to the 200 block of Birdsell Street on the report of a possible individual found dead.

Upon arrival, officers located two unresponsive individuals. Both were ultimately pronounced dead.

Their names are being withheld while family members of both individuals are being notified.

At this time, there are no obvious indicators of foul play and there is no threat to public safety.

This case remains an active investigation by the South Bend Police Department’s Detective Bureau and the St. Joseph County Coroner’s Office.
