Police say a man trying to break into a home early Friday was shot in the face by the homeowner and flown to a hospital.
Deputies with the Henry County Sheriff’s Department say the man survived and is in critical but stable condition.
It happened just before 2 a.m. at a home in the 9300 block of South 175 East. The homeowner told dispatchers someone was banging on his windows and doors, trying to get inside.
Investigators say the man smashed a window and tried to crawl in, but the homeowner shot him. Deputies found him lying on the porch when they arrived.
The sheriff’s department says the homeowner is cooperating. The man’s name hasn’t been released.
