South Bend school leaders released an update on the grade-changing investigation to maintain public transparency, despite one board member’s belief that the district should’ve waited until the investigation was complete.
Attorney Peter Agostino says the data shared at last week’s board meeting raised red flags for investigators and shows progress.
He emphasized the importance of ensuring that diplomas reflect real academic achievement, not just a piece of paper.
Board member Marcus Ellison argued that the district should wait to share all the facts at once when the investigation finishes.
Agostino said that if wrongdoing is confirmed, the district will make changes to grading software and policies.
