The Indiana Department of Health released a report showing a 98% decrease in abortions in 2024 compared to 2022, the first full year of the state’s near-total abortion ban.
Most abortions were due to lethal fetal anomaly, serious health risk, or rape/incest, with over half performed using abortion pills or injections.
The ban restricts abortions to hospitals, with 67 reported at Riley Health Maternity Tower and 52 at Sidney & Lois Eskanazi Hospital.
Some providers failed to submit complete reports, leading to legal actions and executive orders to ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
