Two Indiana State Police troopers helped deliver a baby on the shoulder of Interstate 65 Saturday morning.
Troopers Fike and McCormick were called just after 8 a.m. to I-65 southbound near mile marker 163, where a woman in labor had pulled onto the shoulder. The baby’s father and grandmother were with her.
When the troopers got there, the woman was already in labor and the baby was on the way. With no time to wait for an ambulance, they stepped in and helped deliver a healthy baby boy.
Paramedics from Tippecanoe County got there soon after the birth and took the mother and baby to a nearby hospital.
