A program to promote bicycling for kids is coming to Ballard Elementary School in Niles.

The non-profit group All Kids Bike helps schools set up biking programs in the physical education classes. WSJM reports that the program will be involved in teaching kids to ride at a young age, thanks to a $9,000 grant from the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative.

Kindergarten classes will benefit from teacher training, curriculum, and a full fleet of equipment that includes 24 balance to pedal bikes, helmets, storage racks, and more. The program will be supported for the next 7-10 years.
