Driver cited after two-vehicle crash in Elkhart

A two-vehicle collision in Elkhart on Lakewood Drive near State Road 19 resulted in significant damage and sent two people to the hospital.
It happened around 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 29.
According to authorities, a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 50-year-old Elkhart man, was headed west on Lakewood Drive when it failed to yield at the intersection with State Road 19. The pickup collided head-on with a northbound 2017 Jeep Renegade.
The Jeep’s driver, a 26-year-old man from Elkhart, was not injured, but his 26-year-old female passenger reported lower chest pain and was taken by ambulance to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment. The driver was also transported as a precaution.
Both vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage.
The Silverado’s driver was cited for multiple violations, including driving while suspended, failure to yield the right of way causing injury, and operating a vehicle without insurance.
