Niles man faces prison time for domestic violence

A Niles man is facing prison time after pleading guilty to domestic violence charges.

Michael Starrett was sentenced after pleading guilty to third-offense domestic violence and assault with intent to do great bodily harm.

Leader Publications says the incidents happened in December of 2024 and May of 2025, leaving two women hospitalized with serious injuries.

Starrett has been considered dangerous, with 20 prior convictions including eight felonies.

He faces three to five years for domestic violence and six years and four months to 10 years for the assault.
