Police departments and community organizations across Michiana will come together Tuesday, August 5, for the 2025 National Night Out Against Crime. The annual event is a nationwide effort to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood unity. Families are invited to enjoy free, family-friendly festivities including food, games, live demonstrations, and more in cities across the area:
South Bend: With over 50 businesses and organizations participating, South Bend Police Department’s east parking lot will be filled with food, drinks, games, prizes, and demonstrations from police and fire departments. It’s expected to be the city’s biggest event yet.
Mishawaka: The Mishawaka Police Department will host its event from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Merrifield Park, 1000 E. Mishawaka Ave., with fun and safety-focused activities for the whole family.

Elkhart: From 5 to 7 p.m. on Central Green in downtown Elkhart, families can enjoy inflatables, animal encounters, free food, and a K9 demonstration. Local nonprofits will also be on hand to share resources and services.
Michigan City: The Civic Plaza lots at 7th & Franklin will host Michigan City’s National Night Out from 5 to 8 p.m., offering food, games, demonstrations, and entertainment. It’s a chance to connect with local officers in a relaxed and fun environment.
Buchanan: The Buchanan Police Department invites the community to McCoy Creek Park (behind Buchanan High School) from 6 to 9 p.m. for a picnic with music, food, and displays from first responders.
Benton Harbor: The 9th Annual National Night Out in Benton Harbor at City Center Park promises excitement with hundreds of backpack giveaways, snow cones, and the return of the dunk tank featuring the Chief. It’s fun for all ages.
The events are free and open to the public. Residents are encouraged to attend and take part in strengthening the bond between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
