A town hall hosted by Lt. Governor Micah Beckwith at the Ohio Township Trustee Office on Wednesday turned chaotic, resulting in multiple arrests and one person hospitalized.
Police said a woman in the crowd began shouting profanities and refused to leave when asked. She was taken into custody after pushing a deputy. A man who intervened was also arrested. Another woman was hurt during the commotion and taken to the hospital. State and local authorities helped manage the situation as it unfolded.
Beckwith later addressed the incident on Facebook, saying he welcomed debate but described the behavior as “uncivil conduct against each other and law enforcement.” He said the meeting became tense once he began discussing energy policies and that a few attendees were swearing from the start.
Police said they are reviewing the incident, which involved many witnesses and recordings, but did not provide additional details about those arrested or the injured person.
Beckwith said he plans to continue hosting town halls, noting that energy and redistricting remain the top issues people raise.
