Police are investigating a shooting that left a 17-year-old boy and a dog injured on the city’s northwest side.

The shooting happened around 1:40 a.m. on Saturday, Sep. 27, in the 3100 block of Striped Maple Court. When officers arrived, they found the teenager with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A dog was also struck by gunfire and taken to an animal hospital for treatment.

During the investigation, officers spotted a possible suspect vehicle nearby, which led to a pursuit through parts of South Bend and Mishawaka. The chase ended near Dale Avenue and Fox Street, where the driver fled on foot.
