Michiana holiday tradition brings cheer to families in need

A long-running Michiana holiday tradition is once again bringing cheer to families in need.

“Shopping for Others,” founded by Bruce Reith in 2008, aims to raise $5,000 this season to provide gifts and essentials for ten local families and veterans at South Bend’s Robert R. Miller Veterans Center.

Reith says the effort was inspired by his late mother, who once rewrapped old toys so her kids had something under the tree.

This year’s shopping event is happening Saturday, December 20, at 1 p.m. at the Walmart in Niles, Michigan.
