Niles man, 78, hospitalized after being struck by vehicle in Cass County

A Niles man was injured after being struck by a vehicle in Howard Township, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies were called just after 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, to the intersection of Barron Lake Road and Cliffield Court for a report of a car-versus-pedestrian crash.

An investigation determined that a 55-year-old Cassopolis woman was driving north on Barron Lake Road when her vehicle struck a 78-year-old Niles man who was walking across the roadway from Cliffield Court.

The Niles man was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for treatment of his injuries. Details about his condition were not immediately released.

The crash remains under investigation.
