Three new Indiana State Troopers assigned to the Toll Road Post received their patrol vehicles on November 13 after completing three months of field training. The probationary troopers graduated from the 87th ISP Recruit Academy in July and were issued the first of the agency’s newly designed Dodge Durango Pursuit vehicles during a ceremony in Indianapolis.

ISP Superintendent Anthony Scott said the new white-over-blue look honors the agency’s history while pointing toward its future.

The new troopers are:

  • Trooper John Levitz, Prairie Heights High School and Purdue graduate, U.S. Army veteran, of Steuben County. He will patrol the Toll Road in LaGrange and Steuben counties.

  • Trooper Abel De Leon, Westview High School graduate and U.S. Army veteran, of Elkhart County. He will patrol St. Joseph, Elkhart and LaGrange counties.

  • Trooper Elisha Fleming, homeschooled and a Bethel University graduate, of St. Joseph County. He will patrol Porter, LaPorte and St. Joseph counties.

ISP also reintroduced the Ford Mustang GT to its fleet, issuing five cars statewide. Locally, Toll Road Trooper John Streeter received the Mustang GT for patrols in LaGrange and Steuben counties.

We need to stop wasting money buying unreliable Chrysler products for our state police. Worst. Choice. Ever.
