St. Joseph County Police say a stolen vehicle investigation turned into a brief chase Saturday evening. Officers tried to stop the vehicle near Cleveland and Main Streets just before 6 p.m., but the driver, identified as  Justin Maike, 43, refused to pull over. He drove over stop sticks, struck two other vehicles, and continued fleeing from deputies.
The vehicle was later found at the dead end of Peacock Circle, where the suspect attempted to run but was quickly captured.
Maike faces several preliminary charges, including resisting law enforcement, reckless driving, battery with a deadly weapon, leaving the scene of a crash, and possessing stolen property. He was treated at a hospital before being booked into the St. Joseph County Jail.
