A bill introduced in the Indiana Senate aims to designate the breaded pork tenderloin sandwich as the state sandwich of Indiana.
The sandwich has been enjoyed by Hoosiers since at least 1908 and has its roots in German immigration to the state.
The bill, authored by former State Sen. Andy Zay, discusses the sandwich’s significance in Indiana’s culinary tradition. However, the bill’s future is uncertain as Zay announced his resignation from the Senate to take on a new role.
