Eligible Indiana seniors will soon have a faster way to claim a tax break.

Starting in 2026, seniors who qualify for Indiana’s Tax Credit for the Elderly can file Form SC-40 online through the Department of Revenue’s INTIME system.

The credit is worth up to 100 dollars for individuals and up to 140 dollars for married couples.

To qualify, Hoosiers must be 65 or older by year’s end, have taxable income under 10-thousand dollars and live in Indiana at least six months of the year. Filing online allows refunds to be processed more quickly, especially with direct deposit.

A tax break for people who effectively pay no taxes to begin with. Thanks for nothing.

This credit has been available for many years and helps low income seniors. The online filing will most likely not help
many of those eligible as they may not have computer access or savvy.
