The Indiana Senate has passed a bill expanding the state’s “good citizenship” instruction.

The bill would include high school completion, full-time employment, and marriage and passed 39-to-nine, with the no votes from Democrats.

The marriage part of the expansion would instruct people not to have children until after they are married.

Senator Gary Byrne sponsored the bill and says doing that, getting a high school diploma and a full-time job will help people avoid poverty.​
