At a time when many Hoosiers are concerned about rising energy costs, Indiana Michigan Power has announced plans to reduce base rates as part of a new Customer Benefits Plan.
The company says growth and increased revenue from large customers, including data centers, make the rate cut possible.
The plan also includes a benefits bank to help stabilize future costs and continued investments aimed at improving reliability.
I&M will file full details in its next rate case with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission later this summer.
Officials say the move supports affordability while strengthening service reliability.

I’ll only believe this when my summer bills are substantially lower. Otherwise I’m very skeptical of anything big electric or big gas tell us. Generally they scheme to take more money from us. Example: “Delivery Charge.” The wires are there and have been for decades. The pipes are in the ground and have been for decades. I can understand regular maintenance but that should be built into the rate. What gives with a “delivery Charge?” I’m looking for an enterprising reporter to explain this. Only Casey Hendrickson seems capable to doing so.
