Battery charges filed again former Marian and Notre Dame basketball player Demetrius Jackson

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor has filed two preliminary misdemeanor battery charges against former Marian and Notre Dame basketball player Demetrius Jackson.

The charges stem from a March 10 incident during a Marian High School basketball practice.

According to court documents, Jackson allegedly headbutted a student and grabbed him by the neck. When an assistant coach intervened, Jackson is also accused of headbutting and shoving him.

Police say the incident was captured on security video.

The Mishawaka Police Department investigated and submitted the case to prosecutors.
