A former Elkhart County bowling coach will serve time after being sentenced in connection to an inappropriate relationship with a minor.

Tyler “Ty” Collins was sentenced to 20 years, with 10 years suspended to probation, after pleading guilty to one count of child molestation.

Investigators say the relationship began in 2012 when the victim was 13 and Collins was her bowling coach at Signature Lanes and Concord High School.

The Goshen News says the relationship reportedly continued for more than two years.

During sentencing, the judge said Collins violated the trust placed in him by both the victim and the community.
