The Community Foundation of Elkhart County is warning residents about a recent wave of fraudulent emails falsely claiming to be from the organization.
According to foundation officials, some community members have received messages that appear to come from “inspiringgood.org,” including fake event invitations asking recipients to enter their email addresses and passwords to RSVP.
Officials emphasized that the emails are not legitimate.
“We would never ask individuals to provide a username or password to register for an event,” the organization said in a statement.
Anyone who may have entered their credentials after receiving one of the emails is urged to contact their IT provider immediately.
The foundation noted that the fraudulent messages may look convincing and could vary in appearance from person to person. Staff members are currently working to trace the origin of the emails.
In the meantime, residents are encouraged to delete any suspicious messages that appear to be from the organization and request login information.
For verification or questions, individuals can contact the foundation directly at (574) 295-8761 or by email at Austin@inspiringgood.org.
Officials say maintaining community trust remains a top priority.
“We work hard every day to earn this community’s trust. We don’t take that lightly, and we don’t take this lightly either,” the statement said.
